The PBS News Hour marks its 50th anniversary this fall. Former Executive Producer Linda Winslow, one of the original producers of the program, will talk with senior correspondent and former anchor Judy Woodruff about what it took to build this respected news program.

Linda Winslow was the executive producer of PBS NewsHour from 2005 to 2014, capping a lifelong career in public television. She was a producer for PBS's award-winning coverage of the Senate Watergate hearings in 1973, which is where she met Robert MacNeil and Jim Lehrer. They created the program that became the PBS NewsHour. Linda was the deputy executive producer of that program from its inception in 1983 and managed the transition to the first all-female national news anchor team, Judy Woodruff and Gwen Ifill.

Judy Woodruff is senior Correspondent for the PBS News Hour, after 11 years as its anchor and managing editor. In 2023, she launched America at a Crossroads, a reporting project on the nation’s political divide, beginning with an interview with President Biden and continuing with stories from 30 states and Northern Ireland. Her recent interviews include NBA star Steph Curry and civil rights leader Martin Luther King III.

Over her five-decade career, Woodruff has covered U.S. politics and 12 presidential elections at NBC, CNN, and PBS. In 2013, she and the late Gwen Ifill became the first women to co-anchor a national evening news broadcast. Judy received the 2022 Emmy for Lifetime Achievement in Television News.
