“NPR Women Rule!”: Linda Wertheimer in conversation with Linda Winslow
In person at the Cleveland Park Library
Free but must register to attend. If you are registering for more than one person, please register each person separately.
One of the Founding Mothers of NPR, Linda Werthheimer, will be in conversation with Linda Winslow, former Executive Producer of the PBS NewsHour at the CP Library next Tuesday. They will talk about experiences in the early days at NPR and how radio news has changed since then.
Linda, who lives in Cleveland Park, was co-host of All Things Considered for 13 years and was its first director. From 1974-1989, she provided award-winning coverage of national politics and Congress. Linda was the first woman to anchor network coverage of a presidential nomination convention and election night. She also was the first person to broadcast live from inside the US Senate Chamber. Her 1995 book, Listening to America: 25 Years in the Life of a Nation as Heard on National Public Radio, celebrates NPR’s history. In 2002, Linda was named senior national correspondent.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Susan Stamberg will not be able to participate, as planned.
